The Design Fort DTP

About my company and me

Hello, my Name is Herbert Eisengruber, and I'm the founder and CEO of
"Herbert Eisengruber - Archaeological & Historical Photography" which is a subdivision of
The Design Fort DTP, a design company in Nova Scotia, Canada.

During my time in University I was torn between two seemingly unrelated fields of study. Archaeology and Grafik Design/Photography. Beeing a kid of the information age I decided to study the latter and make archaeology my main hobby.

1995 I graduated from the renowed Institute for Print, Graphic design and Photography in Munich, Germany with a bachelors degree.

I worked a few years as a graphic designer, Quark XPress, Photoshop and Illustrator specialist in Munich until 1998 when I immigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada. The same year I founded a graphic design company called "The Design Fort Desk Top Publishing" in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia, one of the most historic towns in North America.

I never forgot about other big passion: Archaeology and the love for archaeological and historical places all around the world.

During my own research over the last 10 years I discovered that there is a lack of sources of good quality historical and archaeological photos on the Internet. It is also extremely difficult to find photographers that specialize in that field. Especially in the field of Archaeology the photographer has to have - besides the obvious photographic skills - a passion for history and the necessary knowledge about the subject.

Through 15 years of traveling to ancient archaeological and historical places all over the world I aquired the proper photographic techniques to document and present a ancient or historic site with all its details important to scientific research.

For quite some time now I'm involved in the field of photogrametry. Photogrametry offers a great potential to historians, architects and archaeologists. Me company makes photogrametry accessable and affordable to everyone.
